The Province of Quebec is building a new inspection station 3 kilometers north of the Canada - US border on Quebec Highway 15 near LaColle - Champlain NY. This is part of the Strategic Highway Infastructure Programme to upgrade the trans-border trade corridor.
It will use intelligent transportation systems comprising of a vehicle-detecting device, an embedded scale and automated identification systems made of a transmitter/receiver and cameras for optical recogition of license plates and variable message signs.
