i was hopeing to be in the south on the 10.five stores in al and tn are going to sell gas at a 1.10 a gal at 110 on sunday for a 110 mins.what a deal.but im still here in delaware, hope someone gets this deal
And if anybody here does go and search out these $1.10 prices to save a little money, make sure you watch your back when sitting in that long long line to fuel up.
Couple of years ago when gas was around the $4-$5 mark, we had new "QT" open up here in Denton on 380. For a week they advertised .99 cents a gallon fuel from 10-2, or something like that. Well, starting at 6-7AM 380 in that area was gridlocked with traffic jams. At 10AM when the price drop happened, first phone call went to the Denton Police due to fghting in the parking lot and to get the traffic moving on 380. By 11AM, there were something like 30 Denton Police Officers and 30 Denton County Sheriffs Deputys there closing the whole parking lot down because of the fighting and near rioting.
QT has not pulled another "Grand Opening" stunt like that since.................
There will be idiots who drive 50 miles to get to the place, idle for a few hours to run the climate control, drive 50 miles back, and wind up paying more per gallon than if they'd filled up at the place 2 miles from home. I wouldn't go if I was only 2 miles away. Too much hassle and too big a risk as the prior post pointed out.
I live off exit 7, I-77, in Charlotte. I'm only 7 miles from a SC station with a cash price .18-.20 less than in NC. If we are down that way, for some reason, we fill up; "saving" $2.50- $3.00. But, Leo is right, you need to do the math.
For 20 cents a gallon and not having to compete with scores or maybe hundreds of impatient or worse people I might drive 7 miles, especially if I could combine it with other required trips. Even 14 miles round trip would cost about as much as the savings at 20 cents a gallon if I just drove there and back only to fill up.
