Okay, so a few years ago, I actually gave this expedite thing a try with Tri-State. I think operating as a 1099 is kind of weird, but it wasn't to bad and I liked dealing with their dispatch. I left to give college a try and that hasn't panned out of for me. I just have a 2 year degree in computers which doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere. Everyone wants experience and expensive certifications.

I've been working odd jobs while staying at my parents' place, but I've been out of work now for 2 months coasting on my tax return. I have a few leads on other jobs coming up, but thought it would be a good idea to explore doing this again as a Plan B in case I'm not able to scrounge up more work here.

I currently live in Iron Mountain, Michigan which is on the west side of the U.P. by Wisconsin. I'm wondering if anything for Sprinters or Straight Trucks is out this way? Could I run some stuff into Canada to earn money on border crossings? Would I maybe have to talk to some companies in Green Bay, WI? I still have a Class A license, but I'm mostly frustrated with the problems that come with semis like the shortage of parking. The big plus of running for Tri - State was being able to park anywhere and not dealing with the log book and weigh station nonsense.

I think I managed to get myself stuck in a weird location and I'm trying to find work or maybe get out of here.

Kind of related to this, has anyone heard of Dunham Express? They are more local and have a terminal near here in Niagara, WI, but currently do not have job openings there. If they're good enough of a company, I might consider relocating to Green Bay or Appleton, Wisconsin to get gainful employment and get out of this town.

I've never been to the UP-- though I did get close a few times. Both in Wisconsin and in far North Lower Mich, only had to cross the bridge to get to the UP-- so I can't say I could help much. I'm based out of the Chicago area. However, this might not help but maybe it'll give a moment-- for the rest of us-- to be glad we're not there;
