Pretty sure this is add-on stuff, Cheri, and not going to be in the owner's manual. However, I reserve the right to be wrong. New month, new quota, right?
Denny sorry, dude. Your fears are confirmed. There should be 4 bolts that hold each of the steps on. Mine were stainless Torx bolts (okay some were). Those bolts go through the steps, into that bent metal thingy that holds your lights/covers your tank, through an extension of your fuel tank strap, then secured with a nylon lock nut underneath. Total 8 bolts to get that bent metal cover off. More than likely, you'll find the wires inside a loom, strung through cable holders, attached to the backside of one screw on each light. Make sure you put wires back into that loom and back into those cable holders, or you'll be like some idiot I know that pinched his wires, popped a fuse, and had to re-do the repair. As my truck perpetually has bad wires and lights from neglect and a few years of road chemicals and truck wash 'brightener', I frequently make electrical repairs. For that reason, I keep a good supply of heat-shrink butt splice connectors, some heat-shrink sleeves, one of those mini-torches, some 3M Scotch-lock connectors, electrical tape, and good wire strippers/crimpers on the truck.
This will take you a while. The repair itself won't; the disassemby and re-assembly will. Make sure you test the lights before re-assembly. Again, some idiot didn't, and well....you know.
PM me if you need more help.
