Mac users?

We are investigating a career change into expediting, so still learning a lot.
We are both Mac users, and wonder if there are any drivers out there who use Macs in their trucks/vans?
And if so, are there any Mac programs you would recommend?

What I was thinking of, instead of a laptop, it should be possible to set up one of the new iMacs on a bracket.

Thanks for any input!

I don't own a Mac but I wonder what software are you going to use with yours while on the road?

That was another reason for the post...
The (few) trucker specific [link:www.driversdailylog.com/index.htm|programs] I've looked at have been Windows only. Though with the latest generation of Macs, that wouldn't be that much of a problem, just run them in Parallels.

A lot of the stuff I could probably do in Excel, but not all of it.

We are still researching and investigating. I still need to get my CDL, though Jos does have his.
We plan on basically living in the van/truck, so other than any trucking specific programs, we'd have just our standard programs...

Well the sad thing is that many of these companies that produce these applications can't look beyond the windows platform> it would not be hard to do a cross platform application if it is planned correctly and uses a non-platform specific development tool, like python (for example), but many assume that windows is the only operating system out there.

As for Parallels, does it come with windows OS or do you have to provide the software because it only is an emulator?

Now that Mac's are intel based, you can run it dual boot too. I think making macs into PCs was a mistake, I liked the Mac hardware but again I haven't kept up on this stuff for a while.
