So... I'm trying to learn a little bit about straight trucks. Some of the trucks I'm looking at are equipped with a 5.8 axle ratio, which seems on the surface like it would be a fuel mileage and speed killer, but from some of the other sources I found it looks like those trucks are equipped with a double overdrive transmission? Specifically, does anybody have experience with a Freightliner Cummins with a 5.88 diff? Unfortunately I don't have confirmation on what transmission it is equipped with but I think that axle is only offered with one particular trans?
