low sulfur diesel

I thought that they reduced the sulfur in the mid 90’s and 2007 was to have elimination of sulfur, maybe I am wrong about the elimination.
I know that trucks with older injection pumps (IP) need the lubrication that the sulfur provides, like my 6.2 burb. I use a Stanidyne additive to ensure it is lubricated properly. Some of the parts like plungers and racks wear rapidly with the metal used in the older IPs. I know that many Bosch IPs already were designed to run on low or no sulfur fuel in the 60’s, mainly due to my classes at Merc.
