Well from what I've read looks like the expedited freight venture is on hold for a while. Been reading the posts and my wife and I have decided to just hold on. We have 11 good profitable years of driving a semi but thought maybe we would take a look at something different. Doesn't seem to be the right time though. Anyway thanks for the info and I'll keep on truckin and watching the board.

That may be the thing to do right about now. If you can stay in your big truck, thats the thing to do, for now anyway. I do my own thing and have my own accounts now for 4 almost 5 years now, and things aren't so good right now. One of the biggest reasons all the companies are hiring so many drivers for is because there is a price war on and the drivers are the ones that are getting screwed. I had a big company bid me out on an account that I had for about a year, and after 2 weeks of doing the run no driver would do it for what the company was paying them, so that big company had to raise the mileage rate and the costomer that I lost came back and I got 4cents more a mile. I see this going on all the time, but it is happening more often now. The sad thing is that the drivers are the ones that are losing the money. Those companies don't have to pay for anything and they get 50 to 60% of the load. Fuel is on the riase and so is the cost of living, but the drivers rates are on the way down. The best thing to do right about now is to just THINK, and THINK HARD.

You can say that again!! Reading these expediter posts has convinced me to stay away from expediting, and to do something else for a 2nd career. We keep getting jerked around where i work with constant rumors of "company buyouts" for us older workers. This has been going on for at least 3-4 years, but it is a steady paycheck. Anyway I'm not griping, but I am planning, because I'll still need to work. What I see in the paper a lot is these dedicated parcel routes for o/o's with 3/4ton or 1 ton vans. Is there anyone on the forum that has info and/or experience with these? From what little info I have been able to gather, you gross 40-60K just like the B-units on this Forums survey, except you are home every night. Any advice from you guys and gals out there? Thanks!!

Hi DooWop!!!
I met a guy that has one of these runs. He tells me that you must bid for the run and buy it from Uncle Sam. He told me that once you are awarded the run you own it for life. You can sell it, rent it out, or what ever. If you default, then you lose it. He told me there is a waiting list of about 5 years or more.

All this that I'm telling you is here say from a guy that said he does one of these runs. I don't have any hands on experience so take it for what it's worth.
