.80 a mile x average 2500-5000 a week.

Do you know anybody personally at that carrier actually doing those miles ?
Do you realize every week with a holiday is a potential bad week ?
Do you realize your driver may take more time off than you’re comfortable with ?
Or he just may take off.
And every week without a holiday is a potential bad week ?

Hoping you just found a better than average carrier.

2000 x 52 weeks is 104,000 per year.

How many solos , excluding Mr 3000+ , got 104,000 paid miles last year ?
I’d think less than 1/2.

I had a driver that "worked" four weeks for me. Basically, she worked two weeks some short runs long enough to be done in maximum three days. Total gross was around $1100. She turned down numerous load offers, took days off, one it was for the stupidest reason I ever heard, I quote "I was just so overwhelmed about yesterday (when she turned down a 500 miles run after delivering a shortie - my note), I needed to calm down and clear my head". I still didn't want to fire her, yet she did quit few days later for not making enough money...
