I bought a ' 07 144 " sprinter back in april '07 since then the resinator cracked I lost my turbo then my main cooling fan shatterd and took out my radiatior, it has a pulling problem to the left that the dealer can't fix ,at night the lights flicker , it just started a buzzing sound in the rearend that sound's like when a powersteering pump goes bad As of today 1-9-08 I turned it in on the lemon-law and i am getting all my money back. my question ? Are there any other '07 sprinter owners having this much trouble or did i just get a bad apple out of the bunch and would i be a nut-job for buying another '07 sprinter.

Let us know if and when you get your money back using the lemon law. I personally would buy a Ford or Chev/GMC because they are tried and true. Lot of guys on the forum have half a mil miles on Fords and Chevies.

Ok... car engine?

Well don't know anything about that but MB makes about the best diesel you can get in a light, medium duty vehicle. They produced more diesels than Ford and GM combined and have been doing it since 1935. The only other company that can claim that is Isuzu.

I can tell you this, if you are disappointed with the MB product, you will absolutely hate the Ford van they want to market here that is just like the MB van. The only difference is that Ford may end up using MB engines because Navistar and the Brazilian manufacture who build 2 and 3 liter diesels for Ford (which I might add are really great engines) may not have something ready for the first generation Euro-van.

I run a sprinter but an 05 model. So far have had very few problems. Curreent mileage is over 200,000 miles. Great fuel economy and have hauled over 3000lbs in it (wasn't over weight) and still going.

However on the flip side. A fella with my old carrier had more problems than you did. He spent over $30,000 in repairs and that's not counting warranty repairs. His was a 2004 and everything broke. COuple of torque converters, couple of rearends, couple of drive shafts and turbos, fans, sensors, front end parts and more.

I have been a fan of european vehicles for years and this proves that you don't need a 400hp motor in a van to haul with. This 2.7l is good and the turbo works great. Now the transmission, well I find that a weak link and the dealer will not fix the rumble strip vibration from it. So I keep running and changing the fluids etc. Definitely the transmission is not upto taking abuse. There GM has everyone beat hands down. My last GM had half million on it and original transmission, no rebuild. BTW also had original tie rods only replaced the ball joints in it (lubed the hell out of that truck). Mechanics could not believe mileage and still origianl frontend parts. Tie rods still tight when I sold it.

So i think you got a lemon. For me so far great buggy. Sprinter has been a different one to run and service as there are quirks, but pretty good overall. BTW if you get another one, find a mercedes mechanic outside the dealer system. I get better service, cheaper, and some mb knowledge that the dealers (dodge especially) don't know or won't tell you. My dodge dealer sucks big time. can't even sell me parts fast as can't figure out what's in it (with VIN). So poor dealer network and support from dodge but for some of us a good work vehicle. LOve the fuel economy, especially with these higher prices.

I have had my Sprinter for more than 2 years and 240,000+ miles. There have been a few problems and minor irritations but it has been a good vehicle. You can have a bad experience with any make. I'll have to admit, I waited until 2005 to buy a Sprinter in the hope that they got all the bugs out of it and I think they got most of them. It seems to me that your Sprinter was a mostly new model in 2007. I always try to avoid new models for a year or two in hopes of avoiding major problems.

I spent more than 25 years in the auto parts business. In that time I learned that all makes have their quirks and weak points. You just have to decide which ones you want to put up with.
