Be sure to stop by the On Time Media booth at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Lawrence and Dan from Expedite Loads left here Sunday night in an '85 Yugo packed with their sleeping bags, jugs of water and lots of sandwiches and snacks.
They've been keeping the folks back here updated with a stream of progress reports from the road; they called us last night night from Charleston, SC which has us somewhat worried because that wouldn't seem to be the most direct path from Florence, KY to Dallas. When questioned about that, Lawrence insists that his former expediting and driving skills are intact along with his trusty road atlas, and that they'll make it to the show in plenty of time. He also reports that the Yugo is running fine on most of the cylinders, oil consumption is better than expected, averaging almost 75 miles to the quart. He says that some of the hills and mountains pose a problem at times. They received a parking ticket on one of the Interstates while laboring up one of the hills; Lawrence insists they will fight it in court because they were definitely still moving, just not very fast.
Anyway, the people back here at the office wish them Godspeed on their mission to bring the word to the fine folks at the truck show, and again, please stop by Booth #1708 and say hello. Also, if you have any spare change that you could donate to their "Return Trip to Florence Fund," they would greatly appreciate it!
