Landstar?

I see quite a bit of interest in LS in recent posts. I am not currently nor have I ever been an expediter.

I have been a small business owner since 1995 in a non trucking business and have more recently been an employee driving a large straight for the past year+. I took that job after it practically dropped in my lap after being pre approved by FECC and talking to a few owners, nothing had panned out when I got this other job. I am still looking into expediting because eventually I think I may team with my wife, timing isn't right on that yet, but I continue to be interested and always researching the business.

Questions are as follows: does LS take on solos and if so are there owners taking solos? Secondly if I could drive solo for an owner would LS be a good 1st expediter experience for a driver new to the segment? If I end up in the business unless I find out something to really sour me on LS it seems that is the model I am gravitating toward because it seems to fit me from all I have read, if doable from the get go it seems like there wouldn't be anything to unlearn since their model is vastly different than the rest.

I realize that LS may have a higher entry bar set, but it seems that may be a good thing? I suppose it may even limit opportunities there even for me without experience someplace else first?

LS requires 1 year OTR experience for a straight and 6 months for a Sprinter type van.

There are solos in both, but I don't anything about available fleet owners needing drivers.
Call 8006220658 and ask for Trudy. She can tell you more.

Thanks for the info, working on my second year OTR in a straight truck, so should be good there.

Landstar is a great company to work for. Just make sure you don't hide anything from them as they are very thorough on their background check (no stone unturned). They only accept the cream of the crop.
