I am contemplating signing on with Landstar Express, I have a D truck with sleeper and 24' box. I'm wondering if some of you O/O and drivers can provide me with some info regarding: a) do they keep your trucks busy? b)because they work thru a 1,000 brokers, do you get loads quicker, do you have to layover too long? c)Where as they do use local brokers, the don't pay any deadhead miles. what percentage of your total milage is deadhead? d)is there much oportunity for west coast loads, coming and going?

I sure would appreciate any info you may be able to provide:)

Welcome to the site #1
We have an archive full of valuable info. The questions you ask are very common for a new person just getting into this business. It is also a common question for an experienced driver signing on to a new company. You will find loads of knowledgeable info there. To get to the archives just click on the word archive at the up of any of the forums you are in and all the archives of that forum will appear.

EO provides the world with news and articles daily. If you click on the banner at the top of any page you are on you will be guided to the front page of the EO site where again loads of valuable info is only a click away. I do believe in the last month or so quite a few articles have been printed about Landstar.

I personally do not drive “D” units or work with Landstar. I don’t have any info for the questions you ask. There are many EO members that do drive for Landstar, that will reply to your thread. Be patient for a lot of the members are on the road and only get home every 3 or 4 weeks.

Hi Teacel,
Thanks for getting back to me. I guess I put that question on the wrong spot, should have been submitted under the Newbie Forum I suppose.

I sure hope I do get some feedback from some of the Landstar people.

The recruiters make it sound sooo... good, but then I know how that works, I was a Navy Recruiter during the Vietnam Conflict (they say it wasn't a war). There is quite a disparity between what each of the major companies are saying and it makes it very hard to make an intelligent and informed decision.

How about it folks, how about providing me with some good insight regarding Landstar.

I've been following this forum for about a month now and I find this to be an excellent, friendly, congenial, and helpful place to be. The participants all seem to be very helpful and sincere with the exception of a few bitter souls.

Good Luck and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year
