Just a driving tip.

I am 32 but new to driving a Cargo Van. This is for anyone like me just starting out or for anyone thinking about it. Hell for ALL DRIVERS! I must say, my van has cruise control and I love it! If you don't use it, start. You can't get a speeding ticket if you do. Next. Stay in the far lane and control the traffic. Give the car in front of you plenty of distance. I say count 6 Mississippi at least. You never know when you would have to slam on the brakes.

The cars behind you...well don't really have to worry about them. And the ones next to you, they will pass. And let them pass. People honk or ride your bumper, don't let it get to you. See I used to get mad. Forget it. Not worth it. This is my job now and I am all about being safer. Again, control the traffic.

Finally. Some of these cities you deliver to are tough. You get to the st. you are looking for and still pass by your destination. Slow down and put on your four-way lights if need be. The people behind you don't know you have no idea where you are going. Let them know. And above all else, take a deep breath.

Far lane? Please define.

If you mean the leftmost lane, then you are out of line. Keep right except to pass. That is the law, and it should be strictly enforced.

Otherwise, you make valid points. In my opinion, the most logical speed for a van is 62-65 mph. That is a good compromise speed between safety and on-time performance.

As far as cruise control is concerned, you should use your foot on hills; don't let your transmission hunt between gears. And LEAVE IT OFF AFTER THE FIRST YAWN!!
