Hello expeditors!

I just joined the forum and own a Promaster 118. I own a tile business that does mostly commercial projects. I’m looking into upgrading the van to either a 136 or 159. If I went with the 136 would that exclude me from expediting in between projects?

Expediting is a career and a lifestyle, not a spur of the moment oh here's a job let's take this one. There are carriers who would sign you on but the ones who generate steady reliable business are going to want someone in it on an 80/20 or so plan, 80% of the time available and running their freight, 20% home. You could expedite in your 118. You'd be limited to 2 skids. A 136 is also going to limit to 2 skids but with more free space for you ahead of the freight. A 159 will take 3 skids which opens more load possibilities. All limited by GVWR.

But expediting isn't A-B-A, A-C-A etc. with A being where you live. Expediting is A-B-C-D-E-F-G-C-H-I-F-J-K-D-L-G-A. And freight isn't so much at your convenience between tile jobs, it's right now at random moments when it needs to go.

How many years did you spend studying and learning the tile business. Expediting is another career, just like professionally doing tile work. Here on EO, read every single thread title in the General, Newbies and Recruiter forums for at least the last 5 years. Every title. And if it sounds remotely educational and applicable read every post in that thread. Then you'll have at least a foundation to build on to know as much and be as professional toward expediting as you presumably are toward tile work.

It's a lot more than have van, turn key, hold wheel, drive.
