Man, am I confused! (I know, what else is new eh?)
I'm trying to get some ballpark pricing on insurance.. truck, cargo, etc.
I was given the name of an apparently knowledgable broker who deals with the trucking industry.
Give her the info, she calls one insurer so far, who deals with the trucking industry.
The insurer tells her they don't do trucks that light, they only do 'over 10000 lbs'.
Our truck is a 3-ton, but has a gvwr of 19500 lbs.
So.. the insurance is looking at payload weight vs truck weight?

Try Betsy at Transport Insurance Agency. You will find their number on the EO home page.

I have my van insured through them.

I believe the rate is based upon GVWR.

Thanks for the info, but I need to find a Canadian broker.

Tell the Canadian broker you are 19,500 GVWR. When they hear under 10,000 lbs they are thinking you are not a CVOR vehicle, from what you've told me in the past your truck most certainly is.

Do you have a CVOR number of your own??

I'm not sure if they do Canada or not but First Guard is a good company.

The carrier currently holds everythiing in their own name, so we have to get plates and insurance looked after before the CVOR, since the app asks for that info. We were hoping to do this one step at a time, but seems like the steps pretty well have to be done all at the same time.
