quick question. can a carrier own vans, and load those vans, and simultaneously lease those same vans to different carriers? or is it; once a van is owned by a carrier, that van can only run for that carrier?

so if i become a carrier, and i own my van, and i begin to load owner operators leased to me, yet at the same time, i am leased to OTHER carriers who load me, its not illegal? but depends on terms set by each carrier...? just to be sure i understand.

What would be illegal about it. Carriers haul loads for other carriers all day long.

i thought that it would be double brokering. because, if broker gives carrier a load. carrier gives leased van the load. that van is owned by a carrier. i've a lot to learn. and the more information i fill my head with, the better off i am.

If I were you, I would be sending PMs to the guys in here that have their own company, they have lots of experience. You may now be getting info already. I would think you need to live the life on the road for a year and just drive for someone and look around.imho

Double brokering, triple brokering, quadruple brokering is done all the time but the government is to busy violating rights and harassing truck drivers in hopes that they might catch them doing something wrong to really care about brokers.
