I love to drive

It is late in the evening as I sit at my computer after a long day at work. That’s a nice truck I think as I look at the brochure, No air ride on my city bus, you feel and here every crack in the road. CD player, wow listen to music while I drive- no screaming kids and crying babies. I love my trips to Florida as I take a different way each time to see new scenery but I always come down through the Georgia Pass-never get sick of that, but I get sick of the same old city streets I have been driving for 13 years. I have the truck specification sheet in front of me with the financing approved. My background check has been completed and the company says come on aboard. I love to drive. It does not matter what- Bicycles, motorcycles, Boats, ATVs, Airplanes, buses, Dock trucks, Tractors. I want to go Expediting but people look at me like I am nuts. You have seniority, paid vacation, health benefits; 50k a year are you nuts. Look at the gas prices, Companies are laying off by the hundreds, Can you trust the Freight companies, truck drivers don’t make any money, you will never go fishing again, You can’t meet a good woman on the road, your too old, What about flight school, your night college classes, You better be careful, I know this guy who went trucking and lost everything- you could lose your house, you can’t work out on the road you will get fat, what kind of life is that, so what if you hate your job-everyone hates their job.

I love to drive

That about says it all. ...... The advice is correct but sometimes the smart thing to do seems wrong. Go figure.

I know exactly what your saying, currently I drive a bus for the city and am making the transition into expediting. I look at it like this, FREIGHT DOES'NT TALK BACK TO YOU----LOL. people think I'm nuts because i'll be leaving 38K a year 100% paid benefits home every night, but i love driving, I'm just tired of doing the same route every day, If i make a wrong decision then "screw it". Being my own boss is more appealing to me.

When you're out on the road looking down at a town at night and you think, "look at all those sane people down there sitting in front of their TVs in a nice warm home". But.....how many of those people are looking at the trucks on the road thinking "wow, must be nice out there driving that truck, going down the road....etc". Go figure. Greener on the other side, etc. :+ :+

When i finaly get on the road looking down at a town at night and think, HEY! look at all those sane people down there sitting in a rocking chair in front of their T.V. enjoying there "retirement" years, in a nice warm home. How many of those people are looking at the trucks on the road and think "wow" I'm glad I dont need to drive I already have an income...............I'm assuming you love to drive to. Greener should be on the other side for you my friend.

Freightlinemike,

I am a Tour Bus driver by trade and went into expedite teaming with my brother and it was pretty cool. Read my post: If Your Gonna Do This. We stopped running for a while, but I returned as a solo D-Truck O/O found that not only do I like to drive I like having my own even better. That is a good feeling

Hey Mike, Weekend was slow so I am on A weekend trip with the motorcoach now. And my truck goes back in service Sunday nite.
Still made a little $$$$$ + Tip

I do and I will try.

Sidebar: I was asked to put the computer communications together for the Ross Perot's campaign office in White Bear by a business associate that was very active in that campaign. It was my voice on the telephone message/communication system. Like you I was self- taught. "Vote for a person not a party" I am an independent not an independent member.
