This Youtube video shows portions of the Feds Creek area in Pike County, KY. Many of my childhood classmates made the dangerous school bus ride along Lick Creek Road, across Pompey Mountain, across Ferrells Creek Gap and several other roads really unfit for bus traffic. Most roads had no shoulders whatsoever. Still don't. I was fortunate enough to live about one mile from the school campus. Many of my classmates endured a 10 0r 12 mile ride through the mountains twice a day. Such a ride easily could take one hour each way because the bus would have to stop for oncoming traffic.
