How would this have worked in America?

URL at the bottom. Here's a summary:
Guy in the UK posts a picture on Facebook. It's of a military action figure similar to GI Joe & his Alsatian dog. He posts it because the action figure resembles him, and he has an Alsatian. In the background is a toy mortar launcher. That it's a toy is fairly obvious because a TV remote is also in the picture, providing scale.
A month later, the cops show up at his door with automatic weapons, ready to bust down the door. Since he was home, they didn't have to break in and things went pretty smooth. Once it was realized that it was a toy, the cops left, embarrassed. There may have even been an apology, I don't remember.

So how would this have played out differently in the US? I submit that:

· a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team would have been deployed, including DHS;
· a destructive, dynamic entrance would have been made;
· he would have been thrown to the ground with at least one gun at his head, maybe more;
· he would have been zip-tied or otherwise handcuffed while the cops yelled, "STOP RESISTING!", even if he wasn't resisting;
· his real Alsatian would have been shot;
· the place would be ransacked;
· they probably wouldn't have found it, being that it was a small toy instead of an actual mortar;
· he would have been threatened with extraordinary rendition, waterboarding, etc.

Had they found the toy, they would have continued to abuse their victim, threatening him to never obtain weapons. If he had a weapons permit, it would be suspended or revoked. He would have to clean up his place on his own. If he sued or filed a complaint, they'd hold a press conference announcing that they would investigate themselves. A couple weeks later, they'd hold a second one, announcing that proper procedure was followed. The cops would receive medals and he would be painted as a terrorist by the press.

That's how it would work in America. It's a brave, new world.

"… police are still looking for the Moose’s a**—he should be considered armed and dangerous, he also responds to the name “Buttercup”..."
