How and where to find it

For other information www.google.com is one of several excellent resources. It took about 17 seconds total to find this link in answer to an inquiry: http://www.ooida.com/Documents/DAC_report.html To find that "dac report" was entered in quotation marks in googles search box. The answer came up on the first page of listings. It isn't always quite that easy but often it is.

This isn't to suggest not asking questions here. It's to point out a source of ready and often basically immediate response to an inquiry versus waiting for replies through the forum. We are here to help and want to. Hopefully this will also help.

It was with frequently asked questions (FAQ) in mind that I wrote the "Introduction to Expediting" piece.

Adding a FAQ section to EO would be a plus too. Perhaps we should come up with an agreed-upon list of FAQs and have a panel of drivers answer them, each from his or her perspective.

Leo's point about one's willingness to invest a certain amount of time and effort in reading past posts is on the money in more ways than one.

When we were considering a career change into expediting, reading past posts helped Diane and I figure out the essentials long before we jumped in. We read every post in every forum going back two years. When we came across a word or concept we did not understand, we wrote it down to study later. Further reading cleared up most of those items. Conversations with recruiters, drivers and fleet owners cleared up the rest.

That technique grounded us so well in expediting essentials that a few EO forum participants openly questioned whether or not my posts were from a real newbie, since my posts conveyed a knowledge of the business most newbies do not have.

That same technique gave us an immediate rise in respect when we approached recruiters and fleet owners. They could tell instantly that we had done our research and were serious prospects. We received more time and attention from them that unprepared newbies would not.

It would probably be a good idea to put together a FAQ for newbies and prospects. For now I'm hoping at least some will read this thread and then read back at least a year in the forums. They'll find their answers that way and become equipped to ask pointed questions specific to their particular situation.
