Holiday doldrums

I was sitting here at home feeling sorry for myself because nothing is happening. Yes I know that it's always this way this time of the year but inactivity is hard for me to plan for. I've fixed everything that's been bothering me on the truck. Now what? In my "D" truck I'd get at least one load during the holidays but in my "B" nothing. I planned for this and expected it so it's not the money. It's the sitting. I'm about ready to go out and hijack something just to deliver it.;)

You sound like me. I know slow periods come and go and really don't care but just getting out of my routine drives me up a wall. It is actually a good thing I have been slow because on Monday I had to rush my mother to the hospital with problems.

I simply hate not working. No matter what my job has been over my life, I have hated down time. It gets worse every year. I think I was put on this earth to work. My kids are grown and it seems my role in life is to be productive. Therefore I like to work.

So if it makes you feel any better I too am sitting here pulling on what little hair I have. I even no exactly when I get back to it, I am about 90% dedicated, and that makes it even worse I think. Oh Lord as I type this it sinks in and tends to make it worse. Good luck though. I am with you all the way.

You need a good 'sitting' hobby. Have you ever looked into amateur radio? What do you like to read? What was your favorite subject in school? You could find a good book(s) and build your knowledge on that. All of these are things you can take with you and enjoy on the road as well. I'd rather be making miles/money but I can occupy myself as long as needed when forced to. Good luck finding something that interests you.

I swear, it's easier to sit out on the road. The hobby thing works good out there but at home there are so many projects I could be doing. The thing is they are projects that would be difficult to leave unfinished if I get a load. Maybe I should go up to the truck stop and hang out with the guys. Naaah. I'll sit around here with the full refrigerator and the satalite tv.

At least you guys have a job! The highlight of my break was a trip down to Mt. Pleasant yesterday. I came away from the machines a little bit better than even and Ron White had me laughing til I had tears in my eyes.(I was going to say "til I peed my pants", but I think we have more than we need of that subject here lately.)

Tom, my app is in. I hope to hear something tommorow.

That might be a little far to deliver a pizza from here to past Cleveland. Seems like it's worth a $2.00 tip.
