Welcome back :) I was about to give up on ya...lol. Hope you came home with a pocket full of money instead of repair bills x(

Did you make it to MATS? I was there, head cold and all. I wanted to hang around the EO booth and maybe meet some folks, but I had my work cut out just finding the boothes I wanted to visit. Beside the fact that I didn't want to give Lwarence and the crew a cold...lol. We couldn't have them out sick! I've kinda been afraid to ask how their all feeling..lol

Well, just noticed you were in and wanted to say welcome back :)

Hope you get some rest, I'm guessing your ready for it..lol

Have a good one,

A 98 inch width would be fine, make sure the width is at least 96" inside. The height is important, the higher the better. Be careful of boxes with roll up doors if that is all you can find- many times the inside height is fine at around 97", but the door frame is only 92-93" high, which creates a lot of problems loading tall freight. That is the way my Morgan is, and it sux to put it lightly x(
Mnay of the box manufacturers only started making 102 X 102's a couple of years ago, so there aren't many on the used market yet.

Thanks! My only dealing with MATS was getting to pass by it that Wed. night on the way down to GA. Sad to admit it, but I have never yet been to a truck show. The reason is I would leave one feeling very sad seeing all the eye-candy that I know I'll never be able to afford :-( The truck is just a work tool for me, my "toys" are my motorcycles at home:D Even if I had big bucks, I wouldn't ever spend them on a truck seeing the hell-beatings mine go through. Just need a new set of front shocks this week- you'll need them every time you go through Detroit! The last two loads were dealing with ground level unloading a $50k marine engine in Portland, ME and a $100k dry cleaning machine in Troy, MI. Had a fun two weeks out, and despite all the rain which makes me feel bleak, I made good dough for the end of March:) How's your truck project coming along?

Well, sounds like you did pretty good. I'm a lot like you as far as the new trucks. I did step through one of the custom sleepers, but that's not a problem for me. I know i don't want the payments of the a truck and especially a fancy truck. As for useful info., what I found were several companies that I didn't know anything about. I picked up literature on several companies who sell lift axles and tons of stuff that I never knew existed.

As for the show overall, there is soooooo much to look at, you just don't have time to see it all and you get over-saturated with all the new toys in a hurry. I did accomplish the things I intended to. I talked to the recruiters from the top few companies that I would like to sign on with. I got some info from some of their better recruiters that I haven't been able to get thus far over the phone.

I've not a done a thing to the truck. I haven't had any luck finding a box yet and I would really like to have it sitting here before I start cutting on the frame. Besides all that, I've been sick as a odg for the last 2 weeks. Starting to feel better...and starting to feel like chasing parts agin..lol.

btw...good call,

Arky,

Since you've been on ebay go over to ebay motors and look under commercial trucks, there might be the perfect box for you. I know ebay listing have been timed almost perfectly for when I wanted to buy something trucking related.

I've looked on ebay alot. very seldom do I find any boxes just by themselves. I always see a lot of box trucks, but rarely a box. I would be leary of buying a box without being able to look at in person anyway. That's one of the problems I have now. I can find dozens of used boxes, but they are so far away from me, I hate to drive to look at them only to find out their misrepresented or something, then if I did buy one that far away it would cost as much to get it home as I paid for it..lol.

Weave, you've told me to stick with the 102" x 102" boxes. That's one of the real problems I'm having. I think I could probably get the 102" height but the width is rare on the boxes I've seen around here.

2 out of 3 of my top picks for carriers tell me that they have low % of auto freight (one says 30% auto). If that is true, do you think I could get by with a 98" wide box?

thx, I'll go down and take another look at some of the boxes the loacal dealer has. I'm not sure, but I think he's sold most of what he's had on the ground, but he has 10 or 12 trucks on the lot with good looking boxes. At least some of those will end up on the ground, at least that's typical.

I may wait till nexy weekend. I like to go when there's nobody around. They have a walk gate so you can go in and look around when their not there. I like to take advantage of that :). It let's me look at whatever I want without being haggled :).

Hope the weather is as pretty everywhere as it is in Arkansas today,

Hey Arky I am not sure where you are located but there is a place called Michigan truck parts on Ford road in Westland Mi I think they may have what you are looking for. If not there is a place across the street (DONT KNOW THE NAME) but they do a lot of sandblasting and painting of trucks and parts. I hope this is a help to you.

Thx cat...but i am loooong way from MI. That'ss actually my biggest problem in coming up with a box, it seems. Where am I?...Arkansas, northwest of Memphis about 110 miles.

Thx for the input though,

Hey arky, if your're looking for a box i saw a field full of them in Texas. I believe it was on the south side of I30 east of Dallas. Just happened to remember that when seeing your post.
Good luck with your search.:)

Thx Joker, I saw those boxes myself when we to look at my truck. It was in Dallas. I wrote the name of the place down, but I've lost it. Although that is at least 400 miles from me, it's getting to the point that I may have to start looking that far away. If you or anyone happens to back through there, write down the name for me..pleeeez :).

Thx, Arky
