First of all thank you for viewing my post. I am new here and have been reading the posts for a while. But have not seemed to be able to find the real numbers I need to make a choice. I do not put much faith in what a recruiter tells me, rather I like first hand information from the people in the business. I am currently a long time O/O of a class 8 truck and flat bed trailer. Am thinking of switching to a smaller unit that my wife could come out on the road with me and share the work as our children are grown and she would like to come out with me.
So, on to the numbers. Last year I spent 265 days on the road. Income to the truck $1.52 per mile. After all expenses I netted $54,000.00 Nothing spectacular.
Could any of you share the size of unit you have and the corresponding numbers that go along with it.
My wife and I have toyed with the idea of her going through school and driving with me in my present situation but the company I am leased to is not so excited about a newbe. So we are looking for an alternative.
