My husband is planning to purchase a used truck and sign on with Panther shortly. He was formerly a supervisor with an Airborne Express contractor in Houston but did not do OTR. We now live near Roanoke, VA, about 4 or 5 miles off I-81.
Main question: Is this a good location to get the freight Panther gets? He is willing to work hard to make the money. We just hope Panther is able to deliver the runs.
How do you estimate your actual vehicle expense beyond fuel, insurance?
If driving for Panther, what can we expect to pay for insurance, workers comp, etc.?
Does anybody subscribe to the broker sites to get freight when your company doesn't have anything?
We are looking at trucks in the $20k-$25k range. I understand this is the worst time of year for trucking. All comments, advice, etc., welcome. Thanks!
