Why can't the insurance companies have a menu of services offered and I pick what I want and they give me a quote on just those items? They seem to prepackage services like the cable companies do...

Because they lump in everything so the higher cost items get funded, other wise no one could afford things like OB/GYN etc. Things that get sued more. Best solution is to outlaw health insurance. It is the main reason for high health costs. Then outlaw the goofy law suits. Then get rid of most of the government regs, they account for a huge portion of the the health care costs and restrict how your doctor can treat you. Some estimates put the cost of government regs as high as 30% of the coslt of health care. Layoutshooter
