Arlene Meeks is from Canada.

In many parts of Canada it would be illegal for you to take your own money and pay for your own health care from a private provider. The Canadian government, you see, wants to maintain its monopoly on health care. It's all about power.

Anyway .... Arlene was visiting her family in California when she needed emergency surgery because her appendix burst. Lucky for Arlene, she was in the United States when this happened and she was able to seek immediate care. But two weeks later, Arlene still hasn't been transferred back to Canada. She can't go home.

And why not? Because the South Fraser Health Region in British Colombia where she lives has a shortage of ventilated intensive care unit beds. They are saying it is because of the holidays, and it is no surprise that those beds fill up. So ... no room for Arlene in the hospital. She has to stay in the U.S.

The beds are full because the Liberal government cut acute care beds in British Colombia by 1,300. A report was issued last fall indicating that they are at least 650 beds short ... but just like government, nothing has yet to be done.

My sister works with 30 people from Canada, they can't work in the medical profession because the government will not allow them. They actually work for less than she does and the company lives it.

Well I agree with some of this Canada if its like that then its crap.
However I think every American in The United States should be
afforded Free Health Care. But not the Kind in Canada.
Whole heartedly if we got money to send to those countries over Seas. This country has the Funds to make sure every Person in this Country thats a Cit (Green Card) Real American gets the Health Care they rightly deserve.
I refues to get into Quibbling Session with anyone on this. Its my true belief that this country should take care of its own before it takes care of the rest of the world.
Let us Pick the Docs, Dentist, Optimoligists for our selfs and the Govt can pay for it. Like I said before anyone here jumps down my throat or tries to put what Ive said here down. It would be far cheaper take care of the people here then to send all that monie over seas to countries that may not even spend the monies on for what it was given. Thats my dime or should I say due to inflation 50 cents.
Any way I dont see it happing in the future and if does happen I sure hope they do it right.

On 31 Dec 2007 at about 5pm my daughter was Taken to the Army Hospital at about 6Pm was transported by Ambulance to a civillian Hospitial, where a bank of test were run. The Civillian Hospital decided it was an Emergency after the test results came back. and Vice Transporting her to anouther Service Hospital they Performed Emergency Surgery. I Dead Head 450 miles home to get to her and made it before she went In to Emergency surgery. I found out that she was ill at about 2pm The Coverage I have I pay for but it is what it is. I pick a Physician I pick a Dentist I pick a Optamolgist (EYE Doc). The way things go I will eitiher have a bill for 25000.00 or I will have a bill for 50.00. The Doc's are stipulating its was Emergency Surgery. So hopefully it will be covered. Point is I shouldnt have to worry about the Money cost I should only have to worry about my little Girl, and that she got the best care that was available.
I gave this example because this realy happend and she just got outa the Hospital. She is at home now and recovering.
Service Health care systems are what they are. But its not free and we Pay for them. There are alot of rules and Regulations to be followed. If you don't U end up in loosing your Hinney.
