When did Panther change their policy that you no longer need to have the HazMat endorsement??
Also, what is the detention time pay these days?

When I started with them 2 years ago, they preferred that you had hazmat but were not turning away drivers that did not have it. Right about the time it started costinh us to get it, it became our choice.

Detention pay = 25$ an hour after the first 2 hours to a maxumim of 9 hours, then layover pay kicks in.

When we were hired, it was mandatory that we had the HazMat endorsement.

So, if we are the only team out of 3 that have HazMat and refuse the load, we get penalized but, yet, we do not get offered any more money because of the endorsement. Does that sound fair??

Have you seen the 2006 Handbook?? New hires now get $20.00/quarter hour after 2 hours.

For straight trucks detention is $20 an hour. Starts 2 hours past your appointment time. Max 9 hours...$180

Layover starts 12 hours past your appointment time.

A couple weeks ago we had this. We POD'd out 12 hours and 15 minutes past our appointment time. We had a hard time trying to get a reply as to whether we got layover or not.

Guess what? On our settlement this week we did not get the layover...:9 but we did get our 180.00

I have a panther o/o who is trying to get me to come over and drive for him now. He has told me that panther still prefers hazmat endorsement for the drivers but as he said 'there is no time limit' on getting it either.

I just do not know if (1) I would make any money with them in a straight truck and (2) he kind of prefers me to become a team driver even though he will start me off as a solo.

Either way a hazmat is not a true requirement.

I would be very leary of going with Panther!

A lot of teams owners/operators have left in the last couple of months. I was at a FedEx two day orintation last week and the parking lot was full of Panther trucks coming on board with FedEx. I have heard many story's about a good part of Panthers fleet has left them.

I have heard of many teams only getting small money losing runs offered, and making a couple of runs a week, (Thats it)

I know of one team who has lost $23K from last years earnings. They are a married couple who are on the road for weeks at a time, they just left Panther and joined up with FedEx.

Blah blah blah... I was at P2 orientation last week and saw over a dozen fed ex trucks...wg units. All that proves is some people feel for whatever reason the other compnany mayu be better for them. My teams are still getting anywhere from 1500-3000 a week as drivers, so freight is there. 3 have hazmat 3 do not.....the 3 with hazmat move out of the slow areas faster. 2 weeks ago there were 8 starit trucks in laredo....non eof them had hazmat and 2 hazmat loads waiting to go with 2k + miles. My team that was there decided to get their hazmat as soon as they get home.

Blah Blah Blah, that sounds like a personal problem you might want to get that checked out.

1,500 to 3,000 miles per week for teams that sounds good to you! That is what Solo's yousally get per week. You must have very low overhead not to be suffering with that kind of pay after everything is paid for at the end of the week?

that was pay of 1500 to 3000$ a week, not miles, and yes I am quite happy with my teams performance and Panther's ability to move them as well as us.
