Good jobs in the South

Hi all, can anyone tell me of any good companies that may be hiring in the South preferably Florida. I now live in Illinois with my husband and have for 5 years. I am originally from Florida and would love to go back home. The only thing that keeps us here is his job. He says if I could find him a good driving job back home that he would move back but, I have yet to find anything good. He makes really good money approx. 67 a year. He is not over the road very much, and is not an owner operator. I would love to find something that he could not refuse! Any ideas? He has 24 years experience and has all endorsements, and a clean driving record. Thank you Brandie

Hi,

There arent many good truck driving jobs in Florida, I live in Jacksonville Fl. When I moved here last year I almost fell over from seeing how low the wages are to drive tractor trailers locally 9.00 -12.00 hr.

You can go to an LTL carrier like Averitt express/ Estes/Saia and make if your lucky 50-60 grand. You will hear that the cost of living is less and there is no state income tax but sales tax is like 7%, Car insurance is sky high and property taxes are high.

I moved here from Michigan and if i knew what I knew now then I would have stayed there. The weather is nice and we live on the ocean but those are about the only good points. My wife is in radio sales and she makes about 50% less than she made up north.

If you could swing a move to Georgia you would be far better off with wages...better companies near Atlanta...which is a Major trucking hub.

Just trying to be honest

Most Southern areas suck for hauling freight unless you find a company who hauls a particular type of freight that is unique for
the area or a smaller company.

Good Luck
