Going west

With my current company, I haven't been west of Lenexa, KS. Well, technically, Fort Worth is a little farther west, but I mean west-west. Not sure if that's a company thing or if my owner has it set up that way.

I'm thinking of going west when I get my own van on the road. I know things have changed since I expedited previously, though the overall principles are likely the same.

So I'm asking who would or wouldn't go west under current economic conditions, and, if you do, how long do you wait for a load out there before you figure it's time to bite the bullet and head east?

I wouldn't go unless it was paying full rate out plus at least half rate back to K.C. If a better paying job materializes all the better. If not at least I've got cost plus food back to K.C.
