going to Landstar...any advice

I am about to go to Landstar Express America with my Sprinter van. I have been with Tri-State for 5 years but I have been dissatisfied with them during the past year.
I would like to hear the opinions of people on this board on Landstar before I make the move. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.
Thanks,
Marty

Marty, do a search on this site for Landstar. Not too long ago there was a detailed exchange on them. What i remember about it, was that Landstar doesn´t have a central dispatch, and you have to call brokers to find loads. Other than that, they seem like all other companies, in that, the drivers that posted, posted pros and cons. All companies have thier supporters and detractors.

Landstar Express is a great choice. If your recruiter is from Michigan, he has not steered you wrong. Yes, it is true, there is no central dispatch which works to the drivers benefit. The is no force dispatch, no out of service penalties, you can go home & stay home for s long as you like, whenever you like & if you don't like where the load is going or what it pays, you simply say "NO Thanks". You can call the individual agents for freight, but all Landstar Express vehicles are satellite equipped and are tracked on the website that the Agents use to find their required trucks. It is a great system & one you will be succesful at
