He annoys me but many like him. My dad liked him. He wanted to buy al gore's piddly tv station and was turned down. They said they wanted to sell to someone more aligned with their philosophy and sold it to al jazeera. That reinforces that even if he's annoying he's on the correct side of things.

Yea right. He was let go because he went looney. His new ventures are backed by himself because no one else would risk it.
He does have a following but then so does Howard Stern. I think I would rather listen to Stern.
