I am new to this game. Drove T/T years ago. Now checking into this new driving experience. Just need to know how and where to get experience needed to get started. I have many questions about CDL needed for cargo van, endorsements so forth. You guys are the experts. Help a newbee out with your knowledge. Big question " How much driving experience is really needed to do this type of driving?" Thanks for your help!;-)

If you have maintained your class A license you're already in good shape. If not, you will need a chauffer's license, and most carriers will require a hazmat endorsement. Most of the large expedited companies have recruiters that can match you with an owner who may have a van available.
Consider if you will that the "stalworths" of the expedited industry are straight trucks. You would need a class "B" with hazmat endorsement for this size truck. Most are either 22' or 24' and by far handle the bulk of the traffic in this industry. Again the major carriers can match you to a owner looking for drivers.
Good luck in your endeavor!

If you drive a straight truck, no experience is necessary. All you need is your Class B license and any carrier-required endorsements. That's how my wife and I started, no truck driving experience whatsoever. Every fleet owner we interviewed (about two dozen) told us we could start driving one of their trucks with no experience. Because we lacked experience, our carrier required us to pass a carrier-administered road test. It was no more difficult than our CDL road test.
