Lots of talk these days about fuel costs, gas vs diesel, surcharges etc.Last Sunday I was in a motel in Hickory NC and started looking at figures for 2004 vs 2004.
For the first 5 months of this year fuel costs were 14.8 % of my total gross revenue. In 2003 for the same time frame fuel costs were 13.3 % of my gross. This 1.5% increase came to about $800 out of my pocket. My MPG is the same as last year so I do not consider the fuel surcharge from my carrier(Fdxcc) to completely cover the additional costs of fuel.It seems that many shippers do not pay as they have contractual agreements in place that do not allow additional charges, some of these shippers are the real big guys.
Just wondering how everybody else is doing,it still blows my mind to see big trucks idling when the temprature is 55-60 degrees, or crusing along at 75 mph.
