FedUp w/ FedEx

Haven't had a chance to post here in a while. Things have been no better since the last time though. On Monday I terminated my lease with FedEx C.C. Last week I grossed $1100, $600 the week before. Too many short cheap loads and too much waiting for loads ( at least 24hrs between loads). When I requested to terminate my contract they said they realize that they were over-confidant about this years projected business and were trying to correct the problem by lowering the contractor count. Well I guess I helped them out. If I wasn't making enough money in their so called busy season I sure didn't want to wait and see what Jan-Feb might bring. My availability % was 88% and I only turned down loads under $.90 per mi. A D truck can't survive on less than that. I sure am disappointed that it didn't work out and really feel like I made a major mistake believing the things they told me in the beginning. Anybody that considers leasing on with them right now is crazy. Thanks for letting me vent!

We went through the same things you did -- with an arrogant contractor coordinator thrown in for good measure! We went through practically ALL of the larger companies, before finally settling down into a good situation with a small company of 44 trucks, all D Units.

The only way a D Unit can actually make money is to work for a company that is willing to pay a flat rate (we make $1.25 / loaded mile), has the customer base to keep you moving, and refuses to over-hire -- and they ARE out there, but you just have to keep looking, and be willing to cut your losses in a timely manner. To me, a truck with the remains of multiple company's signs is an owner that knows their bottom line, and is intelligent enough to get out BEFORE they lose their truck!

Best of luck to you!

Godspeed to all of you out there on the highways and byways!

Wendy you are so right. I have leased on with a company in the Detroit area. I'm not expediting. They haul parts to Chrysler dealers. I'll be running out of detroit into New England and as far south as Virginia. $1.25 per loaded mile. 6-15 stops per load at $25 per stop. I ran 2 loads last week (my first week) and grossed over $3000. No sitting waiting for loads. They have more work than they can handle. Told me I can run as much as i want. They desperately need 4-5 more D units immediatley. Anyone living in Michigan or NE Ohio thats interested please email me at [email protected] . I'll give them the rest of the info. I can't tell you how much happier I am than with FedEx C.C.
