FedEx CC - enforcement of fleet owners ??

Spoke with a real nice guy i met this past weekend in Atlanta. He's been driving for CC the last 6 months . He was telling me about a owner in Akron who put the screws to his pay. I guess he did some investigation and found out this guy's got a pretty nasty reputation with the fellers in Green. Apparently so bad that he now operates his trucks under the name of his girlfriend. The problem is when he calls in to HQ to figure out how he can get his money , no one there seems too interested helping him out. He has all the Pro#'s and all . Still no one wants to help. Since i've only been with FedEx a little over a year i don't really know who to tell him to talk to about that kind of situation. Things like this happening is the main reason why i own my own truck.

The pleasant side of this story is that this drivers now signed on to a real owner with financial backbone and has not experienced any problems getting paid.

I don't know who to talk to at FDCC, because he is contracted to the owner, not FDCC I can see why he isn't getting much help. They paid what they were supposed to it is out of their hands. You might suggest he contact OOIDA's legal department. He will probably have to sue the guy for the money due. He should get on it too before he doesn't have any options. Also he might talk to his current owner. He may know who he can talk to in FDCC that might help him, but I'm afraid their hands are tied.

Don't listen to Every story you hear. I can Tell you that I have had my share of driver's that like to lie on me. I have been with FedEx For almost 11 yrs now and it came to the point where I had to ask every driver that drove for me to sign a lease. There is Two side's to every story. I have had Driver's Fighting going down the Road and wrecking my truck doing $26,000.00 in Damage to my One truck and it was out of service for 3 months. I have had drive's steal money and truck stuff. Driver's take people that was not okay to be in my truck and then I got my lease pulled because of it. So I put in my lease if you quit without a 2 week notice you lose any settlement coming to you. They have a choice to sign it or walk away from it. It cost alot to get a driver on with a company. It's just smart business. I have had 3 driver's that quit without a notice and I reminded them about the lease they signed and ask them if that is what they want to do.

The One Driver took me to small claims court and the judge told him that he sign a legal binding agreement and that he had a choice to sign it or not to sign it. The judge ruled in my favor and ask if I wanted to file a counter claim for lost time due to going to court.
So if your Post is about me ,get the fact's 1st before you post something like that about an owner. I can give you a list of past driver's that drove for me and will tell you that I'm an honest owner.
Two of my old driver's own there own trucks now.

And the driver That told his lie's, did you ask him why he has never even filed anything in small claims and why he has been with 6 different owner's since driving for me in only 8 months. I even can tell you his 1st name. It's Edward.

Some people my not like the way my lease is, but let me tell you a story about a man that didn't like my lease either, but now understand why it is wrote the way it is. This man had trucks on with a company and never had his driver's sign a lease. Well one driver took over $2000.00 off the com card and wrecked his truck. Another driver wrecked the same truck again not once but 3 times and only told the company about 2 of them. Then wrecked his truck doing over $18,000.00 damage to it and left it in a parking lot for 2 weeks not even telling him about it. Then the man got a phone call about the 3rd accident that was not reported to his company that happened 4 months earlier. So now the company he is lease to pulls the lease's on all of his trucks putting 7 different driver's with out a paycheck until his truck's get signed on with another company.

It's just smart business, if you don't think so, I want to come drive your truck and take all the money I can from you and use your car to Drive over 300 miles home Everytime I go home because I can't afford to buy a car because I spend all my money on the road as your co driver and then ask for a Christmas bonus from you when I have only been with you for 3 weeks and then I don't have the Guts to Tell you I'm quiting without a 2 week notice that is in your lease. But I want you to still pay me knowing that the lease I signed Say's if I quit without a notice I forfeit any monies owe.

And As for My girlfrind having a truck, Yes she does. It's her truck not mine. So please Don't listen to all what you hear. I don't hide from anything I tell it like it is. Ask the people who do know the truth.

I'm wondering why i don't see your MAYFIELD name on the TEN YEAR wall ?? Just checked them out once again and NOPE !!! - NOT THERE !!!

Not a good idea to be taking the high road when there's plenty of people employed here that know better.

Dave just wondering why you would even reply to the post????? Is it because you want everyone to know what a great employer you are? Or is it you really do have something to hide.I'm just wondering,Because i think you would of been better off just to reply to the post and not say anything about it is you who the're talking about.I know there's 2 sides to every story but both can't be telling a lie....Just me thinking here thats all,I really like that you have come forward WOW thats something,I think some drivers get what they deserve and some owners get what they deserve....Have a great day guys... P.S. Dave I not putting you down in any way at all for telling your side,I do agree theres alot of things happen on both sides of the fence.....

Thanks for your post, I guess it just upset me when people talk about owner's and the company that they drove for. I'm not a butt kisser in any way at all. But I'm happy with FedEx Custom Critical or else I wouldn't be with them this many years. Don't get me wrong I still get mad at FedEx at times but don't we all. But for the most part they have been the best Company to work for in my opinion. Not putting down any other compaines, we all have our choices. I'm just Happy with FedEx Custom Critical the leader in the Expedited Business.

I guess you could say my post is for all the owners, like me, that has had drivers screw them over and then spread gossip about them after the fact. I'm out here to make an honest living, and its hard to find honest drivers who want to work. I honestly beleive that sometimes the only drivers out there that care about the company, the truck and the loads are the owners. Sometimes you get lucky and find a great driver, but 85% of them that you hire don't work out. All you fellow owners know what I'm talking about. At one time, I gave the world to my drivers and got bent over in the end. Thats when I came up with the lease.

I would recommend that if your not comfortable with putting that in your lease that you at least put in there that if a driver quits without a two-week notice that he will receive his final settlement 45 days from the day he puts it in writing. It will make a driver think about just up and leaving you high and dry. Each time a driver does this, owners lose money also. I'm not out to screw a driver over, I just expect them to be honest and forthcoming with me so I can find another driver to replace them. I guess that's enough said on my part and EO is not here to be another Jerry Springer show.

So owners and drivers, be safe out there and make the money, thats what we're all in it for. And remember, FedEx C.C. Rules!!!

Of course i do D6189

We can certainly post on our free time

My only point in posting a reply to this thread is the number of known contridictions you've made. Of course there's always two sides of every story. Unfortunatly, you failed to mention factors that you as an owner/operator have created to cause a great deal of your own demise.

Owning one single vehicle [and nearly at its maximum fleet accepability life] and having a relationship with another does not a fleet make. No reason to try and come off as "the expediter king of kings". There's just way too many individuals that know better.

Well, you are so wrong. You don't even have the right truck number. Don't you think that FedEx Can find out who You are? They pay EO to advertise on here and I'm sure they can find out who is posting as a FedEx C.C. employee on here. So Don't try to pose as someone from FedEx when we all know better.

And to prove that I'm right Please list all the truck numbers that I have had on with FedEx/Robert's Express since 1995. It's not hard to find these truck numbers if you really work for Fedex C.C. and list the number of trucks that I've had on with them. Yes i'm calling youout because your hiding behind at computer and lieing. I'm not I have nothing to hide. But sure seems you do. So be a man and use your real name. So have fun trying to prove yourself.

I just have to put my 2 cents in on this over Mayfield. I personal know Mayfield and his girl friend and drove for them. They are wonderfull people and one of the best owners I drove for..No problems here with them in my book. I had to leave them for personal reason and would be more than happy to return to then when they have another opening. They are good folks.

Be safe out there

Grizz :)
