Canada FAST application and approval time

I filled out the form for FAST on July 7 during orientation for my prior company. I still haven't received anything on it. Does anyone know of a way to check on the status? Should I just fill out another application? I expect to be sent to Canada before November is up and know I won't have it then but do want it as soon as I can get it. Any tips from those who've been are appreciated.

Probably a back log;
Government agencies tend to get backlogged.
Everybody who crosses the border is applying.
I wouldn't fill out another; that might get things screwed up even worse.
I'll try and find a wbesite for phone number where you can check the status.

Well, a call to previous employer reveals it was never sent in. Can I do the form at the border when I go in? Will they accept payment there as well? I'll just have to go with birth certificate only for a while I guess. Does having a passport help any? I know it's not needed for travel but wondered if it would help otherwise.

I think you can pick up the application at a Customs House, such as in Windsor. Fill out the CDRP application, too.

I applied in April for FAST and received my approval in August. Just trying to get the final processing done. FedEx never got me back to the border once I was approved. I'm back with A. Blair, and my first trip got me to Canada. Unfortunately, they moved the office from the US to Windsor and the computers weren't up, so I still have to wait.

I have a passport, which helps crossing the border. Also, since we do all automotive, I have an A49 elimination "card" which helps crossing, also.

In America, you usually need a birth certificate of license or social security card for many things. Having a passport eliminates the birth certificate and social security card.

All you need is birth certificate and drivers license, not SSN card. If you have a passport, go for it. If not, it isn't worth getting one.

Besides, having your birth certificate ensures you get your free meal at Denny's :+

I've never heard about a free meal at Denny's. I presume that's on your birthday?

What is FAST? How much is the cost? Where do I go for it? What sort of ID does a driver need, either US or Canada? :+ :+

So if I'm sent to Canada and cross at Detroit can I or can I not take care of my application and whatever needs to be submitted while I'm there? And if I can do it there does it still take the same amount of time to get an answer back to my home in the mail? What's the best way for me to make FAST fast? Pun intended but serious about the question.

Leo: You are asking me questions I can't honestly answer.
The CBSA (Canada Customs)are vastly improved over time issues than they were years ago.
This is the immigration people, so I don't know.
There is a phone number in that website if I remember correctly, give them a call.
My question to you; can you not do the application through your Homeland Security department?
Keep us posted; I'm interested to know what hoops you will have to junp through.

I could fill out the app online except it doesn't have enough room for past 5 yrs employment but I can print the app next time I'm home and send it in. I thought maybe I'd get a Canada run before then and do it while I'm there to save at least some time. Just thought someone who's already made Canada runs might know if you can do that at the crossing.

leo, we just got are fast cards.our carrier gave us the aplication for it(fecc) mail that in with the$50.00 fee and they will mail you a letter. you need the number on the letter to make an appointment to get the card. they do take walkins but only if they are not to busy. we did ours at the port erie crossing and it wasn't to crowded (but we did call for an appointment) it took probably less than 1 hour. first you talk to the canadien customs officer and the you go to the other side of the room and talk to the american side. then you are photographed and your fingerprints are taken, and then they give you your card. all in all not to bad of an experience. DD.
