Seasoned Expediter
I have a small fleet and one vehicle is a VOLVO tractor. I am debating as to whether I should stretch the volvo and put it into expediting mode or to find a dedicated run.
Most dedicated runs are .90 per mile up to $1.05 per mile plus a small fuel surcharge of .33 per mile.
My other vehicles are expediting vehicles and I am happy with what they can produce, but I am looking into dedicated runs because I dont think I am ready for another straight truck in the expediting business. Plus the cost of stretching the vehicle.
The money is good with expediting but unstable from time to time. Finding a h/w team or a team that will work together is hard and frustrating as an owner. When there is unstability as the expediting is it becomes frustrating to not only us as the owner but the drivers. We feel the frustration that drivers would have to sit and wait for loads, etc.
Could anyone give me some advice on what they think as far as what i should do and what kind of numbers do I need to oversee?
