My wife and I are about to quit our current jobs to become team drivers. I have been a local straight truck driver, trainer-warehouse manager for 22 years. She has been at her job for 14 years, and we are both ready for a change. We have been considering OTR driving because we have a good friend that brokers his own truck and will help to get us started. We are also interested in expedited driving because we like the idea of driving a custom straight truck over a track-trailer. The problem is that at first we need to be back home every weekend, then as time goes on we will only need to be home every other weekend. My question is: Is it possible to get home with that much frequency and accuracy? If so how? Also, is it possible to haul expedite independently without being hired on with a major company.
