A fellow driver and I were talking about the pros and cons of a class 8 unit. I would like to hear from those of you that have stretched one to accomodate a box. I always heard, that stretching any tractor trailer , was not to be done. Better you buy one with a wheelbase that will accomodate what you want to put on the back. Also the revenue. For those of you that do have a class 8, was the truck price worth it? In other words, are you getting more loads to justify the operating costs and/or the extra expense to go class 8? And lastly, are your dispatchers, loading you heavier because of your capability, or are you still running the same loads?
