class 8 straight truck

I'm new to expediting and want to be an owner and hire on a team. I found a team that wants to drive for me but I'm having problems finding a specific truck. The team has 12 years experience expediting and they are very specific in what they want in a truck. I can understand that since they put so much time in it. What I'm looking for is a class 8 straight truck with a tag axle, 84" sleeper, van box with a reefer. I'm having problems finding all this on a truck. I hope to find a good used one if I can. What is the best way of going about finding what I want? I've contacted several dealers with no avail. I've heard about stretching a tractor and putting a van body on it. Am I going to have to have this custom built?

You face the same problem as a guy who wants a specific car. Other than the current production you can't just call up and order exactly what you want and the odds of finding it on a lot are extremely small. Looking in the classifieds here on the forum units 29, 30 and 31 in straight trucks are all fairly close to what you are looking for. Other than something close enough for horseshoes or hand grenades you'll have to talk to one of the dealers that is converting trucks. Good luck.

A class 8 on the ground is a rare commodity.
Freightliner of Knoxville
Stoops Freightliner
are the only ones that may have something on the ground in something greater than a 72" sleeper.
The above and Fyda have them but not in a 84" or larger sleeper.
That is of last week.
Be prepared for at least $125,000 plus if shopping for new.
