Truckers today drove thru Annapolis MD past the state house to protest a .23 increase in the fuel tax to .385 per gallon. The Maryland Trucking Association along with some law makers spoke how the raise would kill fuel sales in the state because fuel would be purchased before entering and after leaving, hence boosting revenue to neighboring states.

Actually the increase is about 14 cents I believe, the old rate being .245 or so. Drivers who are subject to IFTA taxes and are smart will be more likely to buy in MD. not less likely as they'll get a better credit into their IFTA piggybank when they buy.
