Someone on here posted a thread about them being harassed and a firearm being confiscated in a Michigan weigh station. I want to make it known to individuals who drive commercial vehicles in expedite or over the road trucking of what is permitted.

There have been many misconceptions impressed by companies over many years that individuals are not allowed to carry a firearm in a commercial vehicle. Nothing could be further from the truth. However your sleeper does not qualify you to carry a loaded firearm for means of self-defense, that it is not a extension of your home.

You that you are legally able to carry a firearm in your commercial vehicle as long as you have obtained a concealed weapons license from the state you reside in. However, there are many rules that you have to abide by. Some states do not allow you to enter them with a magazine capacity over 10 rounds. In fact the state of New Jersey actually bans the possession of hollow point ammunition. Which is why you have to be knowledgeable about the States you drive in and how you transport your firearms. Any state that doesn't recognize your concealed carry license requires per Federal transport laws that you unload your firearm and separate it from your ammunition in a locked container. When carrying in states you enter in, you need to understand thoroughly the laws regarding self-defense and the transportation of such firearms in each state.

A company that you drive for absolutely has the right to refuse to allow you to carry a concealed weapon and absolutely can terminate you if you are found out to be doing so. The fact of the matter is nothing you are doing is illegal if you choose to carry the means of self-defense. The most they can do is terminate your job. But in the current tracking environment there are more jobs than there are individuals so always operate on the basis that your job is replaceable but your life is not.
