Read on an email list that if your air pressure drops below 60 PSI, your AC dies completely. The couple who posted said their dog died of heat stroke after that happened to them. Also, some of the AC lines are routed behind the front bumper, so if you go through some heavy snow in the winter, it may rupture those lines.
