I was looking into starting a new career as an expediter o/o . doing some research, i have discovered that many of these expedite companies wont except someone with a felony mainly because of these
canadian border rules. i happen to have a felony from 12-13 yrs. ago.
nothing of any violent nature or drug or firearm related, never went to jail never had any problems before or after that incident. I've
never had dui/dwi, no accidents, and a very good veriable work history. many of these companies claim no force dispatch, if thats the case well maybe i dont have the need to go to canada. now dont get me wrong as not a team player, because i intend to take as many runs as i'm given or allowed to do, hard work for me is never an issue. but with all the states in america i believe that leaves plenty of hauling to do. i apologize if maybe what i'm saying may not make sense to all the veteran drivers out there but i guess my inexperience in this field shows. i'm just trying to understand why something i want to do badly has no place for me. if i'm wrong than can anyone point me in the right direction, thank you all in advance.

Erod,
You'll have a lot better success coming into this business if you own your own truck. Many owners would probably (Truth) shy away from you based on the felony. A whole lot rests upon the nature of your offense - if it involves drugs, alcohol, guns, or a vehicle - your odds are pretty slim at getting into transportation. If not, many companies don't require you to go to Canada and would be willing to give a chance to an O/O with his own equipment. (owning your own truck shows commitment and responsibility).

I don't mean to offend, I just want to shoot straight with you.
