CA Sales & Use Tax

I am in the proccess of purchasing a truck in Indianna which I am going to lease onto FedEx CC, I need to get a base plate in CA. The DMV is telling me we need to pay CA sales tax which will be another 8k.

All the dealers I talk to tell me if you lease onto a 48 state carrier
NO sales tax is due.

I need help!

What does it take to get the DMV to drop the sales tax issue in California?

Keith gave me a call this afternoon asking me about you're situation. I am sure that by now you have received the phone numbers from either Rita or Rachel who can walk you thru the procedure.

As long as you have an IRP number you do not need to pay Calif sales tax.
