And how could you be a travel centre on a major highway and not sell diesel???? WTF???
More opportunities I guess for privately owned truckstops.
(The ones in the article are actually owned by the MTO and leased out to the companies on the website).
Unfortunately they (MTO) have a monopoly on locations (direct highway access) and will not allow any other truckstops (or any businesses for that matter) direct highway access.
In areas that the Government is expanding the HWY's to 4 Lanes and speeds of 100km/hr, they are buying out the land owners not only where the actual highways run through but the properties adjacent to the HWY so they will no longer have direct access. Only "MTO approved"

It is almost the same way here...only the toll roads have service centers..and only the state has access.....and the interstates have just rest areas..
and they are called "service centers" Not truck stops...
and anyone with any knowledge of Ontario...NEVER buy your fuel at a service center anyhow...very marked up...

Your right on there OMV...why would you want to buy fuel in Ontario anyway? Today unleaded gas is going for $1.069 a litre around town here today, now forget we have a different dollar and just compare the costs...
4.5 litres = 1 Imperial Gallon = $4.810
3.8 litres = 1 US Gallon = $4.062
Add the extra mark up on fuel on the highway service centres,
and it gets real costly, real fast...
Recommend you check out the couple of US Branded truck stops up here (J & TA) just off the 401 around London and Woodstock, and again there is a (J) down east past Kingston...
Some local stations have diesel "but" not refuelers, so image filling your rig with a pump limited on its output...yes, we actually have laws in Ontario limiting the flow rates of
our Gas & Diesel pumps/Dispensers...
