Reading that post about the folks that used a baby monitor to relay the Q/C beep reminded me of a very amusing experience back when I worked in the Corporate World.
I was employed by National Semi Conducter in Maynard Mass. The H/R guy had a large corner office with a long leather couch in it. He also had a very attractive female assistant. Every Wedensday they would go for a long lunch,come back to the plant and disappear into his office for about a hour. They would hang a sign on the door "Meeting in Progress,do not disturb".
Well you can imagine the rumors. One Wedensday somebody put a baby monitor on the floor in a corner next to the couch. The receiver was put under the female assistants desk.
After coming back from lunch they went and did the usual thing,after about 10 minutes someone sneaked in to the assisants office,turned on the receiver ,then took her phone and dialed up the whole intercom for the plant. All of their conversations plus other various other sounds that you can imagine were heard by everyone. After a few minutes we could hear someone knocking on his door saying " You need to open this door now". The H/R guy said "wait for about 10 minutes"..
Needless to say it was hilarious,no one owned up to the prank and she shortly transferred out to another position. .
