Hello, and thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
I'm a writer, essayist and novelist in the Atlanta area who has recently pitched a book to NY publishers about Long Haul Truckers. There is quite a bit of interest in the job as a lifestyle, something I've been curious about for many years.

I lived next door to a long haul trucker years ago in Livermore, CA and never forgot him or his awesome truck with its home away from home sleeper, the way his life was so different from anything I'd ever known, and yet so many others in the business shared a similar life on the road.
I'd like to bring the story of the long haul trucker to middle America, so that folks might understand the ups and downs, that they might get a peek into why you all do what you do- and how you do it.

The project would involve interviews via email and the completion of a short questionnaire- a series of 20 questions- and 2 professional photos- highlighting driver and the home on wheels.
Think of it like a high art coffee table trucker book.

Here's my website if you want to know a bit more about me.

We’re looking for long haul truckers with sleepers- going for the home away from home experience- a different take on the trucking lifestyle, which will include photos of the driver, rig and sleeper area.

If you'd like to be a part of this venture:
Start by introducing yourself.

Real name (if you want)
your handle/s
age
sex
where you live (city, state)
Your Rig
Your route (if you have a regular one, or where you normally take your loads from)

Finish these sentences:

The most memorable person I’ve met .…
I hate…
It seemed like a good idea at the time to…
My parents said…
I never would have imagined…
If I could have lunch anywhere today it would be at …
If I could drive with anyone in the world for a 10 hour stretch,
I love…
A perfect day on the road must include…
If I could change one thing about America,
Something car drivers don’t understand about truckers is …
When I’m lonely, I…
In a perfect world,
The one thing I regret ...
The most dangerous thing...
The one thing people don't know about me is
When I'm on the road I listen to...
A vacation to me is…
At home, I drive …
If I wasn’t a trucker, I’d be…

I hope that was fun.
Be sure to give us a way to contact you- email, phone, etc. and the best city to photo you and your rig.
Thanks
Linda and Gwen

What does it pay? My 30 years is worth something.

How well have you been able to convince your carrier what 30 years is worth ? Don't start a bidding war . You know how good the newbies are at underbidding . I've seen some in other forums offering to drive for free to get experience .
