Typically how long does it take to get your operating authority after you've filed?

if you have alll your ducks in a row you can be up and running in under 15 days
Some paperwork to filed and money to be paid. If you are a member of OOIDA, they help you with that. they will send a packet for Application for authority to you, and even offer to a lot of the groundwork for the paper pushing by giving the office staff limited power of attorney to sign off on all the documents which need to be filed. Takes less than a month. Unless you want to haul rocket fuel the process is inexpensive and relatively quick.

I have the insurance and everything filed at the safersys.org site just waiting for approval. I understand that there is a 10 day protest period then I am approved( get Authority) so I'll be good to go soon just takes so long.;-( Still operating for someone else, just looking for backhauls and extra loads primarily.
